Faster Load Times Through a CDN
Cloudflare’s content delivery network caches static assets — images, CSS, JavaScript — on servers distributed globally, so visitors load them from a location near them rather than from your origin server every time. For visitors further from your server’s physical location, this can meaningfully cut load times, which matters both for user experience and for Core Web Vitals.
DNS Management
Cloudflare also handles DNS resolution, which is typically faster and more reliable than a registrar’s default nameservers, and gives far more control — page rules, fast propagation of changes, and detailed traffic analytics that most basic DNS providers simply don’t offer.
Security Without Extra Cost
Beyond speed, Cloudflare provides a web application firewall that filters malicious traffic before it reaches your site, bot protection against scraping and credential-stuffing attempts, and DDoS mitigation that absorbs traffic floods rather than letting them take your site down. These are enterprise-grade protections that would otherwise cost significantly more to implement separately.
Where Caching Needs Care
Page caching at the edge is powerful, but it means changes to your site don’t always appear instantly to every visitor until the cache is refreshed. This is a normal trade-off of CDN caching, and it’s why we manage cache purging deliberately when content changes, rather than leaving it to chance.
